Invitingly soft in shape, Kivikko serves both as a chair and as a headrest, as a seat and as a cushion. There are three sizes of Kivikko that can be put together to form seat or cushion groups on the floor, or on a sofa or bed. Children can build Kivikko cabins, fortresses, or snowman-like beings from their own imagination. The roughly spherical cushions also encourage adults to play and experiment; Kivikko is indeed a very social furnishing item, a tool, from which it is easy to approach other people.

Pode, a new brand of Leolux, asked ontwerpduo to design three new items. We designed a series of stools, pillows and little tables.
Designed for the use in the living room, where so many different activities take place. Relaxing on your own or having a little party, both in the same room, but a totally different use of the furniture.
The little tables 'shift' have very well considered sizes. Used separate or together, they always seem to fit. The pillows 'dot' are stackable, and the stools 'pause' can also be used as a little table, or as a place to rest your feet on.
All designs for pode have the same look. We emphasized the details, such as the buttons and the bend framework. In this way, these details are getting the attention they deserve.

Binta was inspired by Africa. Its sculptural shape evokes African wood carvings. Its soft upholstery is clothed with a patchwork of wax-fabrics, the traditional textiles worn by African women. The fabrics have been chosen in the rich catalogue of Vlisco of Holland who have produced them for over 150 years. Contrasting patterns and colours emphasise the armchair’s shape. Binta is also available in plain fabrics.

The initial inspiration behind the project, again, builds on the more traditional furniture that utilises simple construction methods and ways of assembly. The wooden A-frame combined with the folded metal shelf units makes up a secure structure without the need for any fixings or tools’, meaning the structure is easy to assemble and take apart. The shelving units slide on to the two frames until they drop to a level where they wedge tight; thus securing a rigid structure. Most of us have a chair or place in our room where we pile up our semi-used clothes; the ones that are not clean but not dirty either. This project aims to substitute the chair with something where you can hang all those clothes but does not ask you to be organised about them. They are finished with a rubber coating that increases the grip for the clothes and allows you to be able to just throw them. This comes from the idea that if we pile up clothes in this bedroom chair in the first place, it usually means that we are not very careful with them..........more
