Olav Eldoy | Peel Armchair | Variér Furniture
The structure of the chair has been influenced by the shape and function of a falling orange peel. Its purpose is to protect its contents, to embrace them and care for them.
Peel is elegant and comfortable and offers a high degree of well-being. The chair is flexible and follows your body's movements. A double spring system allows smooth shifting between positions for perfect relaxation. Peel has 360 rotation and three distinct positions for sitting and resting.
With just a simple shift of your body weight, you can move into the next position. As Peel has a fixed angle between the seat and the backrest, the chair will support your body properly, independent of your sitting position. An elegant footrest is designed to make it easy to remain comfortable in the chair.
You may recline without slipping forwards or backwards the movement is in the tilting mechanism, and not between seat and back. The organic shape offers many different reclining positions inside the chair.By using the footrest, a change of position is done effortlessly
Higher footrest to ensure superb comfort in most reclined position. The footrest may be used as a provisorical "coffee table".The neckrest may be adjusted both horisontally and vertically, thus providing different positions for reading, sleeping, watching TV, etc.
The chair is available in mirrored versions, making it an attractive pair in the hotel lobby

Zanotta - arabesco coffee table by carlo mollino
produced by zanotta as an homage to carlo mollino.
the arabesco coffee table was originally produced in 1949 and features mollino's trademark bent ply.
the coffee table features a .39" thick tempered glass top which is fastened to the frame by means of stainless steel discs fixed to the glass and an .32" thick tempered plate glass bottom shelf.
the frame is available in beech or cherrywood finish.
museum collections : die neue sammlung, münchen - la triennale, milano.
coffee table dimensions : 50.79"w x 17.72"h x 20.87"d
Born in Turin, Piedmont, Carlo Mollino was the son of Eugenio Mollino, an engineer. As he grew up, Carlo Mollino became interested in a variety of topics that were as outrageous as his art, such as design, architecture, the occult, and race cars. He was once credited as saying, "Everything is permissible as long as it is fantastic." That credo was certainly reflected throughout his body of work. Mollino's architecture and furniture are famous for their ability to enable occupants to manipulate volumes at a whim. Carlo Mollino died in 1973, while still working.

Echinoid Chair | Ross Annels
A sea urchin shell from the Philippines provided the inspiration this sculptural chair. On this shell the uneven and irregular ordering of the attachment points of the urchin's spines combine to form a strong pattern.
I sought to emulate this patterning on the chair using a combination of turned and carved elements in combination with surface burning and punching, allowing the patterns to grow from irregular but constrained markings.

Furniture By Marc Quinn
Each of the five pieces in the series, a console, a table, a side table, a bench and a desk is made in a limited-edition of 8. The iceberg desk appears as a frozen block of pure-white roughly hewn matte staturio marble. As though it has been sliced clean off, the table top is inlaid with highly pigmented semi-precious stones delineating an abundant orgy of supernatural flora and fauna. A hidden column section pulls out to reveal a marble sculpted chair and foot well, completing its seamless transition from an artwork into a functional object. In each work, the optical effect of the smooth and mirror polished stone surface in contrast to the natural matte texture of the marble sides, reveals on how we perceive objects through the science of light - reflected on the polished surface, refracted through the jewelled flowers or suffused through the natural, rough Carrara marble. In these works, Quinn explores the technique of ‘pietra dura' whereby semi precious stones are intricately inlaid into marble. The origins of the craft are much debated, stemming from antiquity and revived in the Medici family workshop but also evident in the Taj Mahal. Quinn is the first contemporary artist, and one of the most interesting exponents of the YBAs, to work on such an ambitious design project. First artist represented by Jay Jopling, Marc Quinn is also represented by the French modern and contemporary art Galerie Hopkins Custot. And was exhibited in Charles Saatchi's defining Sensation. The Carpenters Workshop Gallery specialises in bringing artistic positioning to design, through an ambitious program of exhibits they avoid categorisation by uniting conceptual and functional works which strive to challenge and enlighten. The gallery represents the celebrated collective Atelier Van Lieshout and lauded artist Robert Stadler who is exhibiting at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in September 2008 in Paris.
