Lighting | Woojuin-2007 FL-1’ floor lamp |Victor Vetterlein
For the ‘Woojuin-2007 FL-1’ floor lamp, my intention was to create a lamp that would cast a warm glow of light in a room similar to a fireplace. Also, I wanted to create a design that was symbolic of our automated lives in a digital world. My concept word was “automation”. The head of the lamp is large to suggest a large brain or memory. The three stacks suggest venting of warm air common around equipment and machinery. The dangling objects inside the lamp (pearls, polished bronze plates, and stained glass) represent consciousness and energy. The body of the lamp is featureless with no appendages except for legs for transportation and maneuvering. This is a body streamlined production and efficiency.......more

Keeping the production of alvihanger in Sweden allows me to have total control over the production and working conditions, as well as minimizing long transports. onedge lounge + ottoman | Brothers Dressler
The onedge series explores using plywood on its edge to create form, structure, and comfort. The onedge lounge, now in its fifth generation, is comprised of repeated elements which are bolted together without the use of adhesive. Designed for relaxation with minimal form the cantilevered base offers flexibility and bounce for added comfort. It is available with or without arms and can be accompanied by the ottoman, which can be used on its side to second as a table or stool. In an effort to minimize the waste generated in the creation of the onedge series, excess material is transformed into cutlets and bracelets.....more

Side Table | Meeraboo-2007 ST-1| Victor Vetterlein
The ‘Meeraboo-2007 ST-1’ side table, with its built in light source and storage compartment, explores the notion of integrated systems where the design components having contradicting qualities.
For the ‘Meeraboo-2007 ST-1’ side table, there is a dichotomy between the curvilinear lower portion of the table, and the hard edge linear shape of the tabletop. Reminiscent of the hermit crab that takes possession of abandoned items on the ocean floor for camouflage and protection, the organic lower portion of the side table appears to be clinging to the underside of the table. A vertical vent stack protruding through the tabletop plane suggests reconfiguration and adaptation to the new union. What were once two very different objects has merged into a unified entity. The ‘Meeraboo-2007 ST-1’ side table is designed to be adjacent to an entry doorway. The built in light source illuminates a golden orb that in turn baths the entry with a warm glow. The orb also serves as a storage compartment for precious items such as keys, wallets, and jewelry. The table is 36” high, 36” wide, and 12” deep. The material composition is fiberglass, wood, and metal with a high gloss white finish. The interior of the orb is finished in high gloss gold lacquer, and this carries through the vent stack where golden light casts an ellipse on the ceiling of a room.....more

A Book Shelf | Miriam Aust
In nearly every household they are to be found – old books not read for quite a long time. books are mostly presented in a shelf like trophies or remembrances although they probably will never be read again. this book shelf offers for these books which became precious just a new presence and aditional function in the special "shelf architecture". a quite arbitrary number of shelf boxes in different heights, cutting and turning round each, are forming this shelf. every crate is oriented in its height and depth on a pair of books and forms an individual frame for it. put into grooves, with an extended lid each, the books are forming small hinged storage spaces in the shelf......more

Seating By Arian Brekveld | Couch p/mtr
This minimalist couch can be ordered per metre, in any size and accurate to the centimetre. The couch can be used ‘wall to wall’, like carpet. Its modest design is a guarantee against ‘overstatement’ in the living room or project decoration. The couch can be transported in pieces and assembled thanks to a very simple construction. Using a separate cover the couch is made to look like one piece. The width of the couch is basically unlimited: as long as any roll of fabric.....more

Table # 28 By Christoph Boeninger For Articolo
Table # 28 was conceptualized strictly along its mail order distribution system: The small side table is made of profiled aluminum sheet metal, thus weighing only 3 pounds. Its compact geometric shape reinforces the shipping carton from the inside, saving packing material and additional weight.
The New York Times wrote about the design: "Encouraging the Table to Command the Spotlight". In 2008, Articolo permissioned an exclusive sales-licence to MoMA for USA and Japan......more

White Billion Chairs | Tina Roeder
I made a prototype in 2002, which was effectively the very first piece I had ever designed. Throughout the subsequent years, I continued with the project, collecting old and rare monobloc chairs on my travels. In 2009, I chose a typological selection that became WHITE BILLION CHAIRS.
What’s the monobloc chair worth? Can you add substance to an industrial product by taking away material, bit by bit, hole by hole, eventually rendering its structure too fragile to support its traditional usage? Will we perceive the monobloc, once we can see through it? Will we start noticing the monobloc, once it will have disappeared? Are we close enough yet, to look behind that perforated screen?.......more

Table | Clip | Jonas Forsman | Blastation
Clip is a light weight folding table in three sizes. Clip can be used in canteens, offices, meeting-rooms and many other locations. Use our design tool to create a setting with Clip. Unlike many other folding tables, no clasps or screws are needed to fold up Clip. The technique Jonas Forsman has used is as ingenious as it is simple: a collapsible tension leg in a self-locking plastic snap. This means that the table is very stable in the folded position and is equally suited in environments where it never needs to be folded for storage.
In 2006 Clip was awarded with the red dot design award: product design........more

Lounge Chair | Straw Lounge | Osko + Deichmann | Blastation
Straw Lounge is a lounge chair constructed entirely of steel. What makes Straw and Straw Lounge unique is the way in which the tubular steel has been deformed. Instead of forming the frame in gentle bends, Osko + Deichmann have folded the steel tubes. Folds and kinks are the most obvious way to deform a tube, but the contrast with the otherwise rounded shape of the tube produces a result that seems almost to have been fashioned by hand.
Bent tubular steel has stood as a symbol for modernity in furnishings ever since the innovative designs of Mart Stam and Marcel Breuer in the 1920s. Advances in manufacturing techniques revolutionised the furniture industry and heralded a new era for furniture.
With Straw and Straw Lounge, Osko + Deichmann pay homage to classic tubular steel furniture, while simultaneously challenging convention both visually and physically, and introducing a striking new expression to the canon of the design........more

Armchair | Chaos | Konstantin Grcic | Classicon
When a highly individual minimalist like Konstantin Grcic designs his first upholstered furniture, the result is bound to be extraordinary. With his chair, Chaos, he has stretched the boundaries of many conventions and nonetheless, or perhaps even because of this, managed to create the perfect seat: narrow in profile, opulent in the front and rear view, and uninhibitedly "cool" in effect. Chaos is a magical throne which ennobles everyday situations - sitting, waiting, observing - and gives them the aura of something special. A special place for special places. Chair. Frame of steel tubing with rubber webbing. Upholstery: polyurethane with polyester filling. Floor tubing in brushed stainless steel. Cover in fabric or leather.........more
